Choosing the right editor is one of the most important decisions you will make. The wrong editor could be more harmful than having no editor at all. This is why I live by three key editing rules:
- Do no harm. The Hippocratic oath of editing.
- You are unique. No one else can write your story.
- Art and science. Editing is a delicate blend of the technical and the creative and sometimes the creative wins.
